Catalyst Conference

The annual Catalyst Conference brings a selected group of 80 high school students from across North Carolina to UNC-CH for a weekend-long exploration of social issues affecting American youth.

The Mission of the Catalyst Committee is to ...

To give high school students the opportunity to build and learn from personal relationships that transcend racial, ethnic, religious and gender boundaries.

  • To provide an open forum for the discussion of the community issues of social justice, equality and pluralism.
  • To empower high school students to develop strategies to combat the apathy and ignorance that threaten the future of our youth through leadership training.
  • To transform high school students into catalysts for positive social change and generate a vision of social harmony in the 21st century and beyond.

In light of the problems that have become increasingly prevalent among today's youth, we feel that Catalyst Conference serves a vital need. By gathering North Carolina's emerging leaders to discuss the sources of aggression and discontentment in our schools and communities, they will become better enabled to address this turmoil.
