Health Focus is a group that tries to raise awareness of health issues, volunteers in health related areas in our community, and helps to close the gaps in health disparities. We offer an incredibly wide range of health topics to work on (AIDS, nutrition, health policy, minority health care, pediatric health care, tobacco cessation, etc.), and we are continually looking for ways we could work towards a healthier world.

Health Focus strives to raise awareness and increase activism for current health issues through education, advocacy and volunteerism on campus and in the larger community. We work on the campus-wide, local, national, and global levels to ensure understanding of important issues and how they affect us and others.
A social justice approach should be central to medicine and utilized to be central to public health. This could be very simple: the well should take care of the sick.

Health Focus is an organization that is dedicated to keeping its members informed and involved. At each meeting, we go over upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and news of interest, as well as discussing new project ideas and event proposals. In all that we do, we strive to further the principles of social justice on which the Campus Y is founded.
Continuing in the Campus Y's tradition of social justice, Health Focus advocates for awareness about health issues across the board, ranging from obesity to multi-drug resistant tuberculosis, from STD prevention to HIV treatment access in prisons, from global health initiatives to holistic healing. |
