Dear members of the Campus Y Community,

This Wednesday and Thursday, the UNC Board of Governors, the primary decision-making body for the UNC system, will review 34 centers and institutes from across the UNC university system. At UNC Chapel Hill, the centers under review include The Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Culture and History, the Carolina Women’s Center, the UNC Center on Poverty, Work, and Opportunity, the Carolina Center for Public Service, and the UNC Center for Civil Rights, among many others.


The Global Engagement Fellowship (GEF) of the Campus Y offers up to $2,500 to support students and student teams engaging with communities abroad via partnerships with grassroots organizations during the summer of 2015. The application deadline is Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at 5pm. Interest meetings will be held November 18
th and 19th at 6pm in Rooms 207 and 208 of the Campus Y. Students are encouraged to set up a time to meet with S. Jakelin Bonilla (sbonilla@email.unc.edu) to discuss the application process.

Social innovators need more than passion to deliver positive impacts in the community. They need fundamental business skills to build and scale their social ventures. On September 23, CUBE, Carolina's hub for social innovation located in the Campus Y, hosted a workshop "Doing the Math: Perfecting Your Budget and Entrepreneurial Accounting 101," led by M. Neely McLaughlin and Brian Durkin from public accounting firm Blackman and Sloop
