The SAFER Carolina Y Campaign aims to raise awareness about the reality of sexual and interpersonal violence at Carolina and of its effects on our Carolina community. The Campus Y understands that student stories must be heard, and that the University must be held accountable for all of its actions.

We encourage your particpation tomorrow in a speak-out style demonstration after a short press conference to make our voices heard about our demands for accountability, transparency and justice from UNC administrators on sexual assault policy and response. There will be time for those who have a story to share. We encourage everyone to come out and show support for survivors and allies.

This semester the Campus Y is launching two new campaigns: Survivors & Allies for Empowerment and Reform (SAFER) Carolina and Divestment from Coal. The Campus Y is hosting a Y Campaigns teach-in on Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Campus Y so that students can learn more about our new campaigns. There will be free food.

In the past, students have been the ones who have taken a stance to make UNC a more inclusive community; today is no exception. We encourage your participation in these campaigns.
